Dr. Chris Johnston is a Consultant Transplant and General Surgeon at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh and Shawfair Park Hospital, specializing in liver transplantation, hernia surgery, gallstone disease, and advanced endoscopy. With extensive experience and leadership roles in transplant surgery, he provides expert care tailored to each patient’s needs.
Dr. Chris Johnston is a leader in the field of transplant and general surgery, bringing years of expertise and a deep commitment to patient care. Alongside his clinical practice, he holds key leadership roles, including Clinical Lead for the Edinburgh National Organ Retrieval Service and Chair of the UK NORS Clinical Leads' Forum. Dr. Johnston is also dedicated to advancing medical education, serving as Lead Educational Supervisor for transplant surgery training and Programme Lead for the Edinburgh Transplant Surgery Fellowship.
His exceptional contributions to the field have been recognized with numerous awards, including the Hunterian Lectureship, the Sir Roy Calne Award, and the Professor Kenneth Fearon Memorial Medal for his pioneering research in transplantation.
